We all have been hearing of this new coronavirus which originated in Wuhan, China. There have now been at least 8,000 confirmed cases and with 170 deaths reported (John Hopkins University's data). When we speak of the death rate it is speaking more of the cases occurring in China however keeping in mind the virus has spread throughout the world 21 countries to be precise. We can't simply omit that it is happening since it is also happening here in Canada (3 confirmed cases).

Signs and Symptoms
Fever
Cough
Difficulties breathing (rare cases)
How is it Transmitted?
Contact with an infected person [touching the infected and/or their surroundings followed by touching your mouth, nose or eyes.]
Droplet [from coughing and sneezing]
How to prevent transmission of the virus?
Wash your hands frequently
Cover your mouth & nose while sneezing/coughing
Avoid contact with those who are infected.
Even though the virus' death toll mostly effects the elderly and those with weakened immune systems, that doesn't mean that we shouldn't take this seriously. In order to help those who are more at risk, we can do our part by taking the precautionary measures to help stop the spread of the virus.
